Memphis OL another target in deep in-state class
Memphis offensive lineman Bobby Billingsley is becoming yet another prospect in the talent-rich year in Tennessee whose phone is ringing more and more.
The 6-foot-2, 275-pound Billingsley has offers from Ole Miss, Arkansas State, Memphis, Marshall, Illinois and Purdue. Over the last couple of weeks, Billingsley has been talking more and more to his home state school.
"I have been talking to Tennessee a good bit more," Billingsley said. "I started hearing from them more in the last couple of weeks.
"(Offensive line coach Sam) Pittman and coach (Darin) Hinshaw are coming up on Wednesday. They said they wanted to see me work in person. I think I need to show them that I'm big enough and good enough to play in the SEC."
After watching Billingsley work in Memphis, the Vols coaching staff will see him again in June when he comes to camp in Knoxville.
While Billingsley has been talking to Tennessee more the last week or two, he's been talking to other prospects in the state for a while. Billingsley is teammates at Memphis East with fellow offensive lineman and highly sought-after prospect Christian Morris, as well as others in the Memphis area.
"I have been talking a good bit to Jason Carr and Frank Herron," Billingsley said. "I also talk a lot to Jalen Reeves-Maybin. They put us out of the playoffs last year and I got to know him at the U.S. Army All-American combine. We have just stayed in touch since then."
Billingsley hopes he will continue to stay in touch with Tennessee.
"I hope they like what they see this week and I get an offer," Billingsley offered.
Rivals.com rates Billingsley as a three-star prospect in the class of 2013.
