Tyndall named NABC Dist. 11 Coach of the Year

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss head coach Donnie Tyndall has been named the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District 11 Coach of the Year, announced Friday morning by the organization.

This is the second straight year that Southern Miss has earned the award. Larry Eustachy was named Coach of the Year last year.

In his first year, Tyndall guided the Golden Eagles to a 27-10 record and an appearance in the quarterfinals of the NIT. The 27 wins are the most since joining Division I and the second most in school history. He also coached the squad to a 12-4 conference record and its first appearance in the Conference USA Championship. The 12 C-USA wins are also the most in school history.

This is the second time that Tyndall has been named NABC District Coach of the Year. He also earned the award in 2011 while at Morehead State.
