Bonner talks So Miss offer

Southern Miss has opened a pipeline to the talent rich recruiting grounds of the Jayhawk JUCO Football Conference in Kansas and they're still at it. On Wednesday, the Eagles offered stand-out OL prospect Lanard Bonner from Highland (Kan.) C.C. Bonner took a few minutes to chat with BigGoldNation.com
The talented 6-foot-5, 335-pounder played his high school football at Shades Valley (Ala.) High in the Birmingham Metro Area.

While he has had a great time in Kansas it's no secret that he would love to get back closer home. When Southern Miss extended the offer he was nothing but smiles.
"It means a lot," Bonner said of his first offer. "It's always been my dream to get a D1 (FBS) offer. And, now not only to get an offer but to get one that's close to home....."
Southern Miss isn't the only program to have taken notice of his talents. Arkansas State and Utah State could be the next programs to offer.
Bonner was asked if Southern Miss being close to home was an advantage for the Eagles and he had this to say.
"Being so close to home is already a big advantage," he said.
Playing close to home would give Bonner's family and friends the opportunity to see him play in person often. Something that is important to the big man.
Southern Miss associate head coach Jon Williams serves as Bonner's recruiter for the Eagles.
"We spoke for the first time today," he said of Williams. "He seems real cool...."
Bonner is on pace to graduate from Highland in December of this year and would be eligible to take part in spring practice of '16 with the Eagles if he ends up signing with Southern Miss.
