Dodson selected in NBDL Draft

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Former Southern Miss guard Darnell Dodson was selected in the fourth round of the 2012 NBDL Draft by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants Friday night.
Dodson becomes the second Golden Eagle to be taken in the NBDL draft, joining Jeremy Wise, who was selected in the 2009 draft.

The Greenbelt, Md., native played his only season for Southern Miss last year. He 24 games for the Black and Gold last year, scoring 11.2 points and pulling down 4.9 rebounds in 11.8 minutes. Dodson made an immediate impact, when in his first game he scored 17 points and drained a game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer at Arizona State. His performance, followed up by his first double-double against South Florida, earned him Conference USA Player of the Week.
On the year, Dodson had 15 double-figure scoring games, including a season-high 24 versus Belhaven. His most important game came when he scored 23 points in the Golden Eagles 75-72 victory over Memphis, snapping an 18-game losing streak to the Tigers.
