Eagles polish game plan for Alcorn State

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss football coach Larry Fedora said his team put the polish on its game plan for Saturday's season opener against Alcorn State here Wednesday afternoon in a two-hour workout in Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium.
"Today was a polish day with a lot of special teams work," Fedora said. "We have a short practice tomorrow and we will be ready to go."

Fedora also said that sophomore wide receiver DeAndre Brown will be a game-day decision on whether he would play or not against the Braves in the 6 p.m., contest.
"We will wait until the last moment to see on DeAndre," Fedora said. "We will talk to the doctors and go from there as we are preparing either way. He is getting reps in practice and one way or another we are going to play a game."
Justin Jordan, a member of the 2009 signing class from Blinn College, was cleared to practice today and participated some in the workout.
"With today's practice you could not really tell what kind of shape he is in because we are pulling everyone back getting ready for the game," Fedora said. Fedora also commented on one other member of the most recent signing class, who came into camp last week, Gerald West.
"He is very fast, fluid and smooth and he can get in and out of breaks and everything," Fedora said. "He may not be in the best shape he can be in right now, but that is understandable. We are getting him ready to play."
