HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The following is a statement from Southern Miss football coach Larry Fedora regarding a report earlier today on ESPN.com regarding the status of rising sophomore wide receiver DeAndre Brown:
"DeAndre is still on pace in his recovery. He has been working extremely hard and pushing his way through rehab. He developed some soft tissue swelling around the fracture site in his leg and we decided to back him off and put him back in a boot to avoid any setbacks. He, though, is still on the same timetable and we are looking to have him back at the start of the season."
Brown suffered a broken leg in the first quarter of the Golden Eagles' overtime victory against Troy last December in the R+L Carriers New Orleans.
