"Southern Miss started recruiting me last year during the season and they offered me this past Saturday," he said. "I was really excited!".

It didn't take long for him to make his mind up about the Eagle offer.

"Pretty much just a car ride back home," he said when asked when he made his mind up.

Nicholls State and Texas Southern had previously offered Bougeois and a number of schools were showing interest.

Southern Miss stood out from the competition.

"Their coaches and the people there are all really nice," he said. "And, they have a good nursing program which is what I want to be..."

Bougeois could also provide some interesting options in the kicking game aside from simply kicking the ball. He is a starting WR for his high school team and is very athletic.

Southern Miss special teams coordinator John Wozniak is one of the most innovative coaches in the country when it comes to unconventional plays.

"I can only imagine the plays that coach Woz could come up with knowing that I play wide receiver too," he said.
