Eagles Add Two Late Signees

Even though football's official signing period is over, the Golden Eagle football program has continued to look for prospects. Southern Miss is expected to add a corner and a linebacker to an already stellar class.
Both prospects are expected to be on campus next week when the second summer school session begins.
DB - Ridge Jones, Miami Jackson 5-9/168/4.4.
Statistics: Had 7 INTs, 39 tackles and 3 fumble recoveries. Considered by many to be the top cover corner in Dade County. Runs a documented 10.6 100 meter. Named All-Dade County, and was a FSWA 1st Team All-State selection in class 4A.
LB - Ronnie Thornton, Miami Killian 6-3/215/4.7.
Statistics: 97 tackles, 3 INTs, four sacks. Named All-Dade County and was a 2nd Team All State selection in calss 6A by the FSWA. Also recruited by Pittsburgh Auburn, Ohio University, South Carolina, South Florida, North Carolina State and Memphis.
Both players participated in the 10th annual South Florida All-Star Football Game. Both were late qualifiers and have great potential.
Southern Miss looks to have significantly its depth and radically upgraded its speed and toughness since last season. With Antwain Easterling now academically qualified, Southern Miss will have three players from the Miami area on scholarship, an area which has never before been recruited by USM.
