Eagles release basketball schedule

Southern Miss basketball officially begins practice today at 4:00 PM, but Donnie Tyndall and the Hardwood Club hosted a Tip-off Event last night at Brewsky's Music Hall. Tydall along with Director of Athletics Bill McGillis and University President Rodney Bennett welcomed more than 300 Golden Eagle fans to take part in the activities.
Local radio personality and leader of the Tyndall Town Net Heads, Kelly Sannar served as the master of ceremonies and did an outstanding job.

Players signed autographs for fans and were later introduced individually, they sported the new Russell throw back uniforms.
The strength and conditioning program seems to have turned it up a notch because several of the players were noticeably more physically developed than this past season.
Another highlight of the evening included the unveiling of the official basketball schedule for the 2013-14 season.
Southern Miss will play 16 home dates, including two exhibition games, at Reed Green Coliseum while taking to the road for 17 contests including two tournaments. The Eagles will take part in the British Virgin Islands Shootout and the NABC Hall of Fame Classic.
Highlights of the 2013-14 home schedule includes Conference USA games with rivals La Tech, Marshall, Charlotte, Tulane and UTEP. Non-conference foes include Jackson State, William Carey, Morehead State and Drexel.
The schedule also features a challenging road schedule with games at defending national champion Louisville, DePaul, Western Kentucky, Rhode Island and North Dakota State.
Eagle fans will also have some short road trips they can make following the Eagles, a leg of the NABC Hall of Fame Classic will be played in Mobile, where the Eagles will take on regional rival South Alabama and Houston Baptist. The Eagles also play road games at UAB and Tulane, both easy trips for Southern Miss fans.
