Southern Miss offers Bulldog pledge

Southern Miss became the latest program to extend an offer to Callaway (Jackson, MS) High standout receiver Malik Heath.

Heath has been committed to Mississippi State for almost a year, but that didn't deter second year head coach Jay Hopson from going after the talented four star prospect.

You never know how that persistence will pay off. On NSD17 Southern Miss signed multiple prospects who had been long time commitments to other programs. The listed included two former Mississippi State commitments in Gautier (MS) offensive lineman Paul Gainer and Heath's team mate at Callaway Emmanuel Dabney.

Heath is a member of the Rivals250 and is the No. 2 ranked player in Mississippi for 2018.
