Youngsters Steal the Show at Top 100

On Saturday some of the top prospect from across the Gulf Coast converged on the Ocean Springs Sports Complex for the CJ Bailey Skills Academy Top 100 Camp.
Bailey, a former Southern Miss defensive back and current personal trainer, coaches and trains athletes of all age and skill levels who want to elevate their game.

While the camp didn't draw some a few of the top names on the coast it didn't disappoint as we were able to see some very talented prospects a number of which were quality under classmen.
DEFENSE:
Several '16 defensive backs had great days including D'Iberville (MS) High safety Ty Peters who ran among the fastest forty times of the day as well as showing great agility and burst during the 1-on-1 drills. Another rising senior that had a great showing was Dee White from Harrison Central (MS). White who holds a ULL offer showcased great agility and an uncanny ability to close on the ball during the 1-on-1 drills.
Trevon Dubose from Moss Point (MS) won the DB award at the camp after snagging 3 interceptions for the day.
LeCharles Pringle from Gautier (MS) had a great all around camp taking reps as both a DB and WR he was rewarded for his effort with the Top Dog Award.
The linebacker that really stood out was sleeper Vincent Milanese from Ocean Springs (MS) High. He has had plenty of looks by programs such as Southern Miss, MSU, Mississippi and ULL. But, to this point only JUCO programs have offered. He has great size at 6-foot-2, 230-pounds and solid frame to build upon. If he bulks up in college he has a great burst for a rush-DE type player.
Defensive End Jacques Turner from D'Iberville (MS) was outstanding in camp picking up the DL Award. The talented 6-foot-3, 245-pounder holds almost a dozen offers including Arkansas St., La Tech, ULL, ULM, Southern Miss and others.
OFFENSE:
It all starts in the trenches and that's where we will start today. There were a number of really good high school OL at the camp. But, two really stood out and showed they have a no doubt future the collegiate level.
We'll start with '16 Josh Ladner from Hancock (MS) High. Ladner showed a great first step and decent second step. He and Jaques Turner had some great one-on-ones during the day. Ladner showed that if he can get his hands on a DL that the rep is essentially over. Long arms and appears very strong. Has a number of JUCO offers but don't be surprised if he earns some FBS looks before his senior season is over.
The other OL that stood out was '17 OT prospect Paul Gainer from Gautier (MS) HS. Gainer is about 6-foot-3, 270-pounds or so right now and is super athletic. During water breaks Gainer was seen showing off his ability to walk on his hands to the other OL in the group. Let that sink in for a moment a guy that big with really long arms doing an hand-stand and walking on his hands for 5 to 15 yards at a time.
Gainer proved to have good footwork, very teachable and a kid that really loves to play the game. Gainer earned the OL award for his efforts.
The juniors stood out for the WR corp at the camp. Ocean Springs' Austin Williams showed up big and won WR Award. He was smooth, ran great routes and has good size at 6-foot-3, 205-pounds. He's not the fastest guy around but if the ball is anywhere close he's more likely than not to make the play.
Class of '17 WR Bryce Brewer (Biloxi, MS) ran well and showed some flashes. He is a guy to keep any eye on moving forward.
This is Mississippi and there's a RB under every rock so it should be no surprise that this group had some athletes.
Once again it was underclassmen stealing the show. Pascagoula's Javarous Walker took home the RB Award for the event. He showed good speed, a nice wiggle in space and good hands catching the ball out of the backfield. Fellow 'Goula class of '17 RB Reginald Hunter is getting more early looks but Walker is solid and could become a legit FBS recruit in his own right.
The most intriguing prospect at the camp could very well have been rising 9th grader Ham McGee. A solidly built 5-foot-9, 185-pounder, McGee was among the best at the event despite his youth. Physically he compares to Mississippi State's Nick Griffin as a high school freshman. McGee showed great hands catching the ball out of the backfield and occasionally lined up in the slot. He is definitely a young guy to keep a close eye on.
It was a good day for quarterbacks. St. Martin's Wayne Overman took home the QB award after a solid day throwing the ball.
Two Alabama signal callers, who were not eligible for the QB Award, really stole the show. The most impressive being 6-foot-6, 205-pound Trae Barry. Barry has just transferred from Bayside Academy to Foley (AL) High. The other Alabama signal caller was '18 prospect Chance Newman of Daphne (AL) High.
Barry, who has a sister on the Southern Miss Track Team, showed exceptional arm strength, good footwork and nice touch on the ball. He has all the size and the raw skills that make college coaches drool. Newman was also impressive throwing the ball, and showcased good footwork. He's young but showed some great potential.
Barry has already picked up an offer from Troy.
